MANILA- 'Ang Probinsyano' star Coco Martin has endorsed Sen. Grace Poe, who is seeking a Senate reelection, during a motorcade in Cebu on Sunday.

Martin, who stars in the ABS-CBN long-running primetime series "FPJ's Ang Probinsyano," urged the public to vote for his "ate."

"Hinihingi ko po sana sa inyo ng suporta, dahil sa sobrang pagmamahal ko sa taong ito at tinuturing kong ate. Ang isa sa mga taong pinapakinggan ko at gumagabay sa akin—si Grace Poe,” the actor told a crowd in Danao City.

(I am asking for your support because I have so much love for this person who I consider as my elder sister, one of the people who guides me—Grace Poe.)

Poe is the first candidate to be publicly supported by Martin who has the top "endorsement value" in Metro Manila as revealed in a poll by political strategy firm PUBLiCUS Asia.

Martin stars in the TV adaptation of the 1997 film "Ang Probinsyano," which originally starred the senator's late father, Fernando Poe Jr.

The 51-year-old senator, who has been the consistent leader in senatorial preference surveys, is seeking reelection in the May 13 polls as an independent candidate. She lost the presidential race to Rodrigo Duterte in 2016.
