Authorities arrested Sunday a village chairman of Mantapoli in Marantao town, Lanao del Sur for allegedly selling home quarantine passes, police said.

Cassar Abinal was arrested following reports that residents were asked to pay P20 before they can claim their pass, according to Police Captain Jemas delos Santos, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office-BARMM.

Quarantine passes should be distributed by local officials free of charge, Malacañang earlier said.

The province of Lanao del Sur is under community quarantine in a bid to contain the virus spread.

In Cotabato City, 2 women were arrested Monday after being caught making fake quarantine passes. They will be facing cases of falsification and use of falsified documents.

The city was placed under modified community quarantine after a patient admitted at Cotabato Regional and Medical Center tested positive for COVID-19.
