MANILA (UPDATE) - Antipolo City confirmed its first case of the COVID-19 infection, its mayor said on Sunday.

Mayor Andrea Ynares said the patient, a 60-year-old male, was rushed to a private hospital on March 9 with cough and flu-like symptoms.

The patient does not have any foreign travel history but stayed in a Manila hotel with his family from February 26 to 28, the mayor said.

The patient's family are classified as persons under monitoring for having contact with a positive case but have yet to show symptoms, she added.

As of Sunday, the city has 22 persons under investigation, 12 of whom tested negative for the virus and 9 are awaiting results, according to the mayor.
