MANILA (2nd UPDATE) - The Philippines has recorded eight deaths from the coronavirus disease 2019, with three more fatalities reported Saturday, the Department of Health said.

In a statement, the Department of Health (DOH) said the patient, the 40th case in the country, died on March 13 "from acute respiratory distress syndrome due to severe pneumonia" with acute kidney injury.
