MANILA - Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio ended her self-quarantine Friday, after receiving a clearance from the city's health office.

President Rodrigo Duterte's daughter placed herself on voluntary isolation on Thursday, a day after she attended a confirmation hearing at the Senate, where a resource person in a separate hearing tested positive for the COVID-19.

Duterte-Carpio did not have direct contact with the COVID-19 patient but had a lunch meeting with Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian who attended 2 meetings with the infected individual.

"Mayor Inday Sara Duterte has been given clearance by the Davao City Health Officer, Dr. Josephine Villafuerte, to discontinue her voluntary isolation," the Davao City Mayor's Office said in a statement.

The clearance was given after CCTV footage showed that Gatchalian "did not have physical contact with the positive COVID-19 patient," the statement read.

Duterte-Carpio's household employee who was earlier placed on isolation for not feeling well "has been diagnosed with tonsillitis," the announcement read.

"She is now taking antibiotics and recovering well," it said.

Duterte-Carpio went to the Senate earlier this week to attend a Commission on Appointments hearing which confirmed her promotion as colonel of the Army Reserve Force.
