MANILA - Adamson University on Monday said it has approved a proposal to move the start of the academic calendar of its higher education department to August from June starting school year 2018-2019.
The announcement was made on Adamson's official Twitter account, which cited a memo from the Office of the University President.
"The traditional opening of classes in the month of June shall now be moved to August and will officially end in the month of May," the memo read.
"However, the University shall continue to maintain the bi-semestral set-up for each academic year," it added.
Classes for Adamson's grade school and senior high school departments, meanwhile, will start on the first week of July 2018, the memo said.
Adamson's move to change the opening of classes synchronizes its calendar with the one followed by countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) community.
The University of the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila University and the University of Santo Tomas earlier approved the internationalization of their academic calendar.
