Authorities arrested six alleged members of a syndicate engaged in manufacturing of counterfeit Philippine peso bills in Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City.

They were identified as Jaypee Balis, Aladdin Akil, Satar Akil, Ramil Badang, Alpha Sabar, and Watari Kusay.

The police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-National Capital Region (CIDG-NCR) also recovered almost P1 million in fake bills inside the house during the operation.

Authorities learned that a P1,000 bill was sold for P300 while a P500 bill was sold for P100 to P150.

Asueta said they were not discounting the possibility these fake bills would be used in the upcoming barangay elections.

The suspects were also caught with unlicensed firearms.

They will face complaints for violating Article 168 of the Revised Penal Code or Illegal Possession of Counterfeit Treasury and Bank Notes and Republic Act 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
