BAGUIO CITY- The temperature in the country's summer capital dropped to 9.2 degrees Celsius Sunday, the lowest temperature recorded since 2014.

Last Saturday the temperature dropped to 9.6 degrees Celsius.

Weather bureau PAGASA said the temperature in the city is expected to stay low until the end of February and may drop to 7.5 degrees Celsius.

“Dahil pa rin sa hanging amihan yan. Simula ngayon hanggang sa February 20 mas bababa ng bahagya yung temperature,” Danny Galati, PAGASA weather specialist said.

But the temperature in some parts of Benguet is even colder.

In Atok, Benguet, the temperature is 2 degrees cooler than Baguio’s temperature. Some farmers said their vegetable plantations have been covered with frost or “andap.” But farmers assured that this will not affect the price and supply of their produce.

In mount Pulag, the temperature dropped to 2 degrees Celsius.
Frost also occurred in Babadak ranger station. The coldest temperature recorded was 1 degree Celsius last January.

Trekkers are reminded to bring extra warmers before hiking in the area.
