MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday said he has met with the parents of Ashley Abad in Malacañang, the 19-year old nursing student who apparently died of a drug overdose while attending a Sinulog party in Cebu last January.

“Kahapon yung kay Ashley, yung bata na namatay, parents went there sa opisina ko. Ang ganda ng bata 19 years old, medical student,” Duterte said in his speech ni Legazpi City, Albay.

The President did not give details about his conversation with the parents of Abad. He, however, slammed human rights groups for being silent about the incident when they have always been vocal about their opposition to his administration’s drug war.

“Ang human rights wala akong narinig sa mga p********** iyan. Ilang pamilya 'yang matatamaan, ilang tao sa isang pamilya?” he said.

The President also gave his usual warning that he will kill drug traffickers.

“Kaya sabi ko pumasok kayo diyan, papatayin ko talaga kayo. Nakikinig ang human rights, judges, kung wala na ako sa opisina, go ahead, make my day. Yung mga galit na pinatay ko daw, puntahan mo ako sa bahay. At [pag] tulog ako, gisingin mo ako, pagbigyan kita. Hindi mo ako mapa-ano diyan,” he said.

“Ako nagwa-warning, kaya pag meron kang anak, meron kang kapatid, then do not cry... He who is the cause of the cause is the cause of them all. Kaya kung ano ang nangyari sa iyong gago ka, leche ka, iyo 'yan,” he continued.
