DAVAO CITY - Mayor Sara Duterte is back in Davao City after attending an 8-day counter-terrorism training in the United States.

Mayor Duterte attended the International Visitor Leadership Program sponsored by the US State Department from Jan. 21 to 28.

Along with Zamboanga City Mayor Beng Climaco, Mayor Duterte said she visited Washington D.C. and Los Angeles, California to learn about preventing terrorism in Southeast Asia.

Task Force Davao Commander Col. Consolito Yecla also joined the training.

Duterte said they learned a lot about counter-terrorism measures that can be applied in the city.

She also said they did not discuss policies and controversies between the US and the Philippines, as well as the cancellation of Senator Ronald dela Rosa's US visa.

Duterte, however, said she was asked by the US authorities on how they can help the Philippines more and if President Rodrigo Duterte will attend the US-ASEAN summit in Las Vegas in March.

“There were questions sa invitation sa iyaha sa Las Vegas giingnan nako sila nga I cannot speak for the national government so best kung i-direct nila ang ila question sa correct channel sa Office of the President,” said Mayor Sara.

(They asked me about the invite to the President but I said they can direct the question to the Office of the President.)

President Duterte has rejected the said invitation to the US.

He has also barred his top government officials from travelling to the US.
