MANILA- (UPDATE) A gun used in the assassination of AKO Bicol party-list Rep. Rodel Batocabe was found in a fish pond in Ligao City, Albay, police said Wednesday.

Chief Superintendent Amador Corpus, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) director, said the gun was recovered in a fish pond in Purok 3, Barangay Busay.

The retrieved firearm was the one allegedly used by confessed gunman Henry Yuson to kill Batocabe, Corpus said.

Yuson later gave the gun to another suspect, Christopher Naval, who threw it in the fish pond.

Batocabe was gunned down on Dec. 22, 2018 during a Christmas gift-giving event in Daraga.

Police have tagged reelectionist Daraga Mayor Carlwyn Baldo as the "mastermind" behind the lawmaker's slay. He was arrested on Tuesday after police seized several unlicensed firearms in his house.

Six gunmen in police custody earlier alleged that Baldo offered P3 million for the assassination of Batocabe, a challenger in his bid for reelection in May.-report from Maan Macapagal, ABS-CBN News
