MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte received a record-high satisfaction rating in the fourth quarter of 2019, a Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey revealed Tuesday.

Duterte received an "excellent" net satisfaction rating of +72, up by 7 points from his "very good" +65 rating in September 2019.

This new rating surpassed his personal record-high of +68 "very good" rating recorded in the second quarter of 2019.

Of 1,200 Filipino adults, 82 percent told SWS they were satisfied with Duterte's performance as chief executive, while 10 percent were dissatisfied and 8 percent were undecided.

The 7-point increase in Duterte's rating was due to increases in Balance Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao, as well as the steady score in Metro Manila.

Duterte's net satisfaction reached a new record +66 in December 2019 in Balance Luzon, up by 12 points from +54 in the previous quarter.

It also stayed "excellent" in both the Visayas and Mindanao, increasing by 4 points in the Visayas from +75 to +79, and by 5 points in Mindanao, from +76 to +81 in December.

Net satisfaction with Duterte's performance also stayed at the record "very good" +66 in Metro Manila.

Duterte's net satisfaction rating also increased across social classes, with a 14 point increase from +54 in September to +71 in December in Class E.

SWS also found satisfaction with the President increased in both urban and rural areas, as well as among both men and women.

In terms of age groups, the President's net satisfaction rating rose by 9 points, from a "very good" +64 in September to an "excellent" +73 in December among 18 to 24 year olds.

It also rose from "very good" to "excellent" among those 35 to 44 year olds, as well as among those 55 and older, while it stayed "very good" in the other age groups.

In this quarter's survey, SWS included the question about the President's promises and which among these they think will be fulfilled.

To this, 16 percent answered all or nearly all, 36 percent answered most, 42 percent answered a few and 5 percent answered none or almost none.

The 52 percent expecting nearly all/most of Duterte's promises to be fulfilled is 4 points above the 48 percent in December 2018.

The December 2019 survey also showed 72 percent of respondents are worried about the President's health, while 28 percent said they are not worried about it.

The SWS survey, conducted from Dec. 13 to 16, 2019, has a margin of error of ±3 percent for national figures, and ±6 percent for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
