MANILA - Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa has ordered a manhunt for a policeman allegedly involved in the kidnapping of a Korean businessman in Angeles City last year.

Dela Rosa has also asked the Department of Justice (DOJ) to assign a prosecutor to handle the case of Korean national Jee Ick-joo, who was allegedly kidnapped on October 18.

Jee has yet to be located at present. His wife, accompanied by Korean Embassy officials, asked Dela Rosa for help in rescuing her husband from his alleged kidnappers.

The Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG) has been ordered to pursue the case and arrest the suspects.

Dela Rosa also ordered the Anti-Illegal Drugs Group (AIDG) to bring into custody the policeman who was identified as a former member of PNP-AIDG.

The policeman in question has since been reassigned to the Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit (PHAU).

Jee's abduction has been reported as kidnap-for-ransom after his wife said that she has paid P5 million as ransom. She added that the abductors were asking for another P4.5 million.

The suspects have been identified through security camera footage taken during the alleged abduction.
