MANILA - Sixteen areas were placed under tropical cyclone warning signal number 1 as Auring maintained its course and moved closer to the province of Bohol, according to state weather bureau PAGASA.

In its 5 a.m. advisory on Monday, PAGASA placed the following areas under tropical cyclone warning signal number 1:

LUZON

Cuyo Island

VISAYAS

Bohol;
Siquijor'
Negros Occidental;
Negros Oriental;
Southern Leyte;
Cebu including Camotes Island;
Guimaras;
Capiz;
Iloilo; and
Southern part of Antique

MINDANAO
Agusan del Norte;
Surigao del Norte including Siargao Island;
Dinagat Province;
Misamis Oriental; and
Camiguin

PAGASA said the tropical depression was packing maximum winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 75 kph.

It was located at 100 kilometers east-northeast of Tagbilaran City at 4:00 a.m.

Auring was moving west-northwest at 7 kph.

PAGASA warned against possible flash floods in ares under the storm signal and in the rest of Visayas.

Fisherfolks and those with small seacrafts are advised not to venture out over the eastern seaboard of Visayas and of Mindanao.

Moderate to heavy rainfall within the 300-kilometer diameter of the tropical depression is also expected.
