DAVAO CITY – A flashflood caused by non-stop rains since New Year’s Day inundated several areas in the city.
Flood water reached knee-deep and snarled traffic in barangays Bago Galliera and Puan Crossing.
Davao City's 911 Urban Search and Rescue Unit visited the city's flood-prone areas to implement preemptive evacuation of residents.
Weather bureau PAGASA said heavy rainfall since New Year's Day was due to a trough of low pressure area affecting weather conditions in the eastern portions of Mindanao resulting in flashfloods in several areas.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council is still monitoring water levels on major rivers.
Authorities already warned residents of flood and landslide prone areas in the region to be vigilant.
