BATANGAS - Actress-turned-politician Vilma Santos-Recto remains unbeaten after winning the congressional seat in Batangas province's 6th District in the May 9 elections.
Santos-Recto, who is the outgoing Batangas governor, got 83,492 votes, beating her lone opponent Bernadette Sabili who got 60,472 votes.
Atty. Allan Enriquez, Comelec provincial election supervisor and chairman of the Board of Provincial Canvassers, proclaimed Santos-Recto the winner of the election.
"Siguro naman may nagawa akong maganda during my term as a governor and mayor of Lipa kaya ako muling inihalal ng mga Lipeno," she said.
She said she will focus on creating laws that will help the youth and the women sector.
Newly-elected Batangas Governor Hermilando Mandanas will replace Santos-Recto after defeating three rivals in the gubernatorial race.
