National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Chief Joel Pagdilao has denied former Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) Minister Lowell Menorca's allegation that he took part in Menorca's abduction in Sorsogon last year.

Menorca earlier said it was Pagdilao who led cops during his alleged abduction in Sorsogon back in July 16, 2015.

Menorca alleged that he saw members of the SCAN (Society of Communicators and Networks) International, an organization within the INC, together with members of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) led by an officer whom he did not recognize at the time.

"So I searched the Internet then may nakita ako, sabi ko dati siyang QCPD director. Pero sabi ko parang hindi, medyo payat pa yun eh. But when I looked at the date, it was 2014. Nung nakakita ako ng recent picture niya, 2016, sabi ko that's him, and I saw the name. It's Joel Pagdilao," said Menorca.

"Distinctive 'yung voice niya, he has a low voice and sabi ko nga eh very comforting 'yung voice niya. Magalang nga siya magsalita eh. So nu'ng narinig ko sa isa sa mga interview sa kanya, sabi ko that's him. That's him," he added.

A former cellmate of Menorca in Dasmariñas, Cavite where he was jailed last July also claimed he saw INC members giving orders to police.

For his part, Pagdilao denied he took part in the alleged abduction. He said it was impossible for him to be in Sorsogon last July 16 because he attended the turnover ceremonies of the new Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief in Camp Crame.

"I will not be part of that abduction and bakit ako pupunta sa Sorsogon? [I did not take part in that abduction and why will I go to Sorsogon] I think I was the [Quezon City Police District] director that time," he said.

He added if it were true that some Quezon City policemen joined the abducting team in Sorsogon, they should be charged.

"If he allegedly saw a QCPD personnel abducting him, that is really the reason for that case. Pwede siya magfile [he can file] admin and criminal case for these persons," Pagdilao said.
