MANILA, Philippines (UPDATE) – Two persons were reportedly injured after a portion of the sunroof of a mall in Quezon City collapsed Friday afternoon.

According to dzMM correspondent Ricky Velasco, the incident happened shortly before 3 p.m. at the SM City The Block located at North Avenue along Edsa.

“Bumagsak ang sunroof located sa main lobby ng SM The Block. Kasalukuyang inaayos ng mga taga maintenance staff ng SM City block,” Velasco reported.

Bien Mateo, public relations officer for SM City, confirmed the incident but could not say how many shoppers were injured.

As of 4 p.m., the activity center had been cleared of debris.

One of those injured was identified as Joseph Fortuna. He was brought to the emergency room of the Capitol Medical Center for treatment.

Although Fortuna needed head stitches, his condition is not critical. Nevertheless, he needed to undergo X-Ray procedures.

Witnesses who attended a concert at the activity area said they heard a loud sound around 2 p.m. They then noticed a portion of the sunroof already on the ground. They also saw two persons who seemed hurt from the incident.
