Presidential aspirant Grace Poe may be well known as the daughter of Fernando Poe Jr., and Susan Roces, but there is more to her than just being a celebrity daughter.
Let's take a look at some of the interesting facts about Grace Poe.
1. Grace Poe is a taekwondo black belter
She may not look like it, but Grace Poe is a black belter in taekwondo. She also played tennis, and loved outdoor activities.
2. She got married despite FPJ's opposition
Grace Poe got married to Neil Llamanzares in 1991, right after college, at the age of 22. Her father, FPJ, opposed her wishes, wanting her to have a career first before getting married.
3. Poe is a fan of American novelist David Baldacci
Poe said Baldacci is her favorite author, and has read all of his books. In an interview, she said she even had her picture taken with Baldacci during a book-signing in the U.S.
Aside from Baldacci, Poe has also read books written by John Grisham, James Patterson, and Vince Flynn.
4. She and her husband has three children, all of whom are dual citizens.
Poe has three children – Brian, Hanna, and Anika. All her children are citizens of both the Philippines and the US.
5. Her first stint in public service was as MTRCB chairman
Poe was appointed as chairman of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) in 2010. It was during her leadership that the new ratings system for both film and television was implemented.
6. Poe has a green thumb
In an interview on Pep.ph, Poe said she loves gardening and landscaping, which she said are both therapeutic. She said she got her love for plants from her mother, Susan Roces.
