Malacañang clarified Wednesday that the "Iglesia ni Cristo Day," which the country will commemorate every July 27 starting this year, is a working day.
A radio dzMM report said the Republic Act 9645, which was signed into law by President Arroyo last month, cites the date as "a special national working holiday."
Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita said the declaration coincides with the INC's 95th founding anniversary this year. The group, led by Felix Manalo, was founded in 1914.
“President Arroyo wishes to congratulate in advance the INC, at present under the stewardship of Executive Minister Ka Eraño G. Manalo and Deputy Executive Minister Ka Eduardo V. Manalo, on this year’s landmark anniversary,” Ermita said in a statement.
