CEBU - Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said Thursday that the Philippines will be hosting the ASEAN Summit in 2017.
This will be in line with the organization's 50th founding anniversary.
However, Coloma remained mum on the specific venues for the leaders' summit and the other meetings.
Coloma, in a statement, said preparations are underway but other significant details will depend mostly on how the next administration will coordinate with the local governments concerned.
During the conference of the ASEAN Ministers Responsible for Information held in Cebu, the communications secretary emphasized the need to raise the level of awareness among sectors of the society on the benefits of a united ASEAN.
He underscored the utilization of social media for wider information dissemination.
