MANILA - The Supreme Court has ruled with finality in absolving Sen. Panfilo Lacson of any liability in the Kuratong Baleleng "rubout" case.
In a 2-page resolution, the high court ruled that the arguments raised by the Office of the Solicitor General in its motion for reconsideration were already passed upon and do not warrant a reversal of the November 2012 ruling clearing Lacson and 33 others from murder raps in connection with the shooting of 11 alleged members of the notorious gang along Commonwealth Ave, Quezon City on May 18, 1995.
Lacson was then head of the Presidential Anti-Crime Commission.
The high court ruling affirmed a Quezon City trial court's decision junking the case against Lacson, et al. for insufficiency of evidence.
