"Crown or diploma? I say, why should I choose between diploma and a crown when I can have both?"

Binibining Pilipinas International 2024 Myrna Esguerra made this statement on Tuesday as she proudly shared her latest milestone: graduating from college.

Sharing her graduation photos on Instagram, the beauty queen recalled how hard she worked to achieve her dreams, and thanked all those who have been supportive of her journey.

"When I was a 7-year-old little girl, I had to handle everything on my own -- going to school, cooking my meals, and doing my laundry, despite having hands too small for the task. I had to manage these responsibilities because my mother was working abroad. It wasn't a matter of choice, but out of necessity driven by my circumstances. That little girl fought so hard, I am so proud of you, little Myrna," she said. 

"I had to hug myself so many times to continue and I kept on reminding myself of the reasons why I should push through. And one of the reasons is to prove that no matter who you are or where you came from, you can dream big and make that dream your reality. And I'm happy and proud to share to all of you that I did it," she added.

"It wasn't easy. It was so hard but because of all of the people who showed me love, kindness, understanding, and support, I'm able to do and achieve all these. Kaya maraming salamat po."

Esguerra finished with a Bachelor of Science degree in Tourism Management with Specialization in MICE Events at City College of Angeles. 

She will represent the Philippines in the 2025 edition of the Miss International pageant.
