Coron, Palawan is not only a sanctuary for diverse aquatic creatures but also a home to many thriving vloggers.
Andro Solas, a 32-year-old fisherman, sailed against tides as he entered his vlogger era, earning through YouTube where he has amassed thousands of views.
Solas, despite knowing the reality of having a lot of competitors, pursued his dream and started a YouTube channel, which currently has almost 400,000 subscribers.
"Kasi hindi pa ako nagsisimula na mag-vlog, tapos nakikita ko na 'yung ibang mga vlogger din na ganyan," he said in an interview with ABS-CBN News.

"Kaya ako, nung nangarap ako mag-vlog, [nagtitiwala] talaga ako sa Panginoon. Kung papalarin man, kung tutulungan man ng Panginoon na makapasok sa vlog," he added.
Solas strives to be the same person on and off the camera, with his relatable and authentic persona connects him to his viewers and fans.
"[Kapag] Wala pong camera, ganon pa rin po [ako]. Pareho rin po. Pareho lang. Matulungin, ayan. Parang kung sa may camera at wala, pareho lang po," he said.
"'Yan talaga, 'pag kahit 'yung video mo nasa sakto [ang views] o marami, may mangba-bash, mga ganyan, manghuhusga… Tinatanggap pa rin kung anong sinasabi nila, mga bad comment. Salamat pa rin kasi kung wala sila, hindi tayo sisikat," he added.
Solas values the comments of his viewers, good or bad, believing that these are essential to improving himself in content creation.
'Good catch'
From only using his phone, Solas was eventually able to invest in a GoPro camera, allowing him to conveniently film videos even in the middle of the ocean.
Through vlogging, he is able to earn more than his maximum income of P3,000 as a fisherman.
He considers his side hustle as a "good catch," as it makes him feel good to be appreciated by many online. It also gives him the opportunity to help those in need.
"Noong malakas 'yung amihan, tapos walang makapaglaot… May manghihingi ng bigas, may mga emergency katulad ng may sakit, nakakapagbigay rin," Solas narrated.
"Malaking tulong 'yung pagba-vlog, kasi kahit hindi ka maglaot [may kita pa rin]," he added.
