MANILA -- Actress, model and fashionista Heart Evangelista met with the spouses of other senators as she began her work as the new head of the Senate Spouses Foundation.

“Our very first meeting and as they say, coming together is just the beginning. Excited to get down to work! Thank you for the warm welcome fellow senate spouses. Ready to honor the challenge of working together and find ways to make our communities better and stronger,” Evangelista said in the caption of her Instagram post which showed her leading a meeting of the Senate spouses.

Shown in the video were Kat Pimentel, wife of Senate Minority Leader Aquilino Pimentel III; and Mariel Padilla, wife of Senator Robin Padilla.

Evangelista now helms the group of spouses of the members of the Upper Chamber of Congress as wife of Senate President Francis Escudero, who was elected to replace Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri last week.

The wife of the Senate President heads the group which is known for pursuing civic work alongside the legislative work of Senators.

In a a separate Instagram post on the Senate Spouses Foundation account, Evangelista paid tribute to her predecessor Audrey Tan Zubiri.

“The new leadership of SSFI headed by Ms. Love Marie Escudero @iamhearte pays tribute to Ms. Audrey Tan Zubiri who helmed and served the foundation in many other ways through her community and voluntary works. Her dedication and hard work has nurtured and strengthened promotion of humanitarian welfare, which is at the core of the foundation, “ the SSF said in the post. 

“Thank you @audreytanzubiri for your inspiration and dedication. We will continue the works you and the ladies before you have started. We will work harder to raise the foundation to even greater heights to improve the lives of our people and communities," the SSF added.
