MANILA -- Filipina drag queen Marina Summers has been tapped as one of the performers of this year's Miss Universe Philippines (MUPH) coronation night.

Organizers made the announcement on Thursday, saying Summers will "heat up, burn up, and bring the house down" at the MUPH 2024 finals, which will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena on May 22.

"With this guesting, we're all winners, baby," the post read. 

Summers, a well-loved drag queen with 337,000 followers on Instagram, was a finalist in the second season of "RuPaul's Drag Race: UK vs the World." 

Despite not winning the top title, she said she is happy to get support from people around the world. "For me, ang sarap sa feeling na I was able to, in a way, ignite that Filipino pride," she said.

The winner of MUPH 2024 will succeed Michelle Dee, who finished in the Top 10 of last year's Miss Universe pageant, on top of winning special awards.

Many pageant fans have noted that MUPH has a "strong" batch of contenders this year, with both returning veterans and fresh faces vying for the crown.

The national competition has also included Filipinas from different parts of the world, such as Australia and the United States.
