MANILA -- Around 100,000 local and foreign tourists are expected to join the Chinese New Year festivities in Quezon City, the local tourism office said on Wednesday.

The local government is mounting a three-day event, from February 9 to 11, in its own Chinatown district in Banawe Street.

This year’s celebrations will launch the QC Chinatown Heritage Tour, which was curated to showcase the district’s rich Chinese-Filipino culture.

The three-hour cultural experience will explore landmarks such as the 10 temples in the area including Sheng Lian Temple and the Buddhist temple, the Filipino-Chinese Friendship arcs called “Paifang,” and a toy museum.

A variety of Chinese delicacies and crafts will also be featured in the QC Chinatown Food, Arts and Craft Fair with over 30 participating merchants, the LGU said.

To give way to the festivities, road closures will be implemented from February 9 to 11 along Banawe corner Mauban, Makaturing corner Biak na Bato, Sta. Rosa corner Biak na Bato, G. Roxas Street corner Biak na Bato, Del Monte Avenue corner Biak na Bato, Banawe corner Sta. Catalina, Linaw corner Matutum, and G. Roxas Street corner Matutum.
