The Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta kicked off Friday in New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac with a series of thrilling airshows and activities.

The annual fiesta returned with the inaugural Skydiving Philippine Flag Jump ceremony.

Colorful and innovative hot air balloons being inflated filled the stadium before taking off.

“Gusto mo na magpatangay. Grabe nakaka-amaze. Ang lalaki iba-iba ang kulay. Ang ganda,” math teacher Patrick Opeña said.

Several show-stopping airshows led by Jet Para Hawks and Global Stars also entertained the audience.

"Maganda po at masaya. Ngayon lang namin nasaksihan di namin alam ganto ka ganda,” said Freitha Tullao, who attended a PIHABF for the first time.

Philippine Coast Guard meanwhile performed search and rescue Demonstrations while the Philippine Navy hosted a helicopter flight display.

Other activities that lit up the sky were Kite Flying Exhibition, drone race, and a pyro display.

The first day of the PIHABF closed with the Hot Air Balloon night glow.

The fiesta will have similar activities until Feb 17, Sunday.
