MANILA – The Philippines’ representative to Miss Universe 2013 adds another feather to her cap as she was named “Ice Princess” during a glam photo shoot for the pageant held last week, according to a report.
Entertainment website Pep.ph reported that Ariella Arida topped the rest of the Miss Universe candidates for the “Ice Princess” title, with photographer Fadil Berisha praising the Filipina’s ability to “transform [into] different looks as long as she wishes.”
“She’s now [a] major favorite for the crown and if she continue (sic) to wow the judges she could be the next to wear the crown,” said Berisha, as quoted in the report.
According to Pep.ph, Arida was followed by candidates from Spain, Great Britain, South Africa and Australia.
The rest of the Top 15 in the “Ice Princess” shoot include Poland, Venezuela, Netherlands, Ecuador, Romania, Ukraine, Brazil, Russia, Croatia and Turkey, the report added.
Miss Universe 2013 candidates from Spain, Ukraine and Poland joined Arida in greeting Filipinos via a video on Instagram, which was uploaded on Monday.
“Hello, Philippines! Magandang umaga!” Arida said in the clip.
On a roll
Last month, Arida was one of the five Miss Universe 2013 candidates chosen to do a photo shoot for an event of the luxury car brand Mercedes-Benz.
She was joined by candidates from Puerto Rico, Poland, Spain and Russia for the shoot of Mercedes-Benz, one of the sponsors in the international pageant.
Before this, Arida and 26 other Miss Universe 2013 candidates were selected to model creations by Lebanese designer Tony Ward during the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Russia.
The reigning Miss Universe, Olivia Culpo of the United States, has also described Arida as “gorgeous” when they met during the National Gift Auction in Russia.
Dubbed as an “online favorite,” Arida is hoping to surpass the successes of her last three predecessors in Miss Universe – Venus Raj, Shamcey Supsup and Janine Tugonon – who all finished in the international pageant’s Top 5.
Tugonon was Culpo’s runner-up in last year’s Miss Universe.
