MANILA – Actor Richard Yap, known for his role as Sir Chief in the hit ABS-CBN daytime series “Be Careful with My Heart,” has ventured into the restaurant business.
Last Sunday, Yap opened a Chinese restaurant called Wangfu at the intersection of Roces Avenue and Tomas Morato in Quezon City. The restaurant is a result of Yap’s partnership with his friends, Lester Pimentel Ong and Ace Wang.
Wangfu specializes in what Yap called “Singaporean-Chinese cuisine,” with the restaurant serving dishes such as Sizzling Black Pepper T-Bone Beef, Sweet and Sour Fish, Kung Pao Chicken and Chicken Steak Rice.
It is currently offering a “feast all you can promo” at P399+ per person, with the offer to last until the end of the month, according to Wangfu's Facebook page.
“The opportunity presented itself kaya I was thinking that while I can’t handle a business myself, it’s better to invest in partnership with somebody else,” Yap said in an interview with The Philippine Star newspaper published on Wednesday.
Yap, who started out as a commercial model for a Chinese fast food chain, said he is planning to put up another restaurant with his “Be Careful with My Heart” leading lady Jodi Sta. Maria.
The actress is a businesswoman herself, having launched her own milkshake bar and a Mardi Gras-inspired restaurant with her friends.
