MANILA – An exhibit featuring fashion in many forms celebrates the 10th year of designer Joey Samson in the industry.
“Joey Samson X” kicked off on Sunday at the Picasso Boutique Serviced Residences in Salcedo Village, Makati.
The exhibit includes different interactive pieces created by his friends in the fashion scene, among them Jo Ann Bitagcol, Melvin Mojica, Mark Nicdao, Sara Black, Everywhere We Shoot, HF Yambao, Nasser Lubay, Gino Santos, Jake Verzosa, Niccolo Cosme, Noel Manapat, Jay Yao, Ronnie Salvacion and Paulo Vinluan.
Their works pay homage to some of Samson’s best works, such as the Cage Dress, Ribbed/Corded Dress, Transitions Skirt, Ladies’ Origami Dress + Men’s Jacket, Mitate Ladies’ Tuxedo, Deconstructed Jacket and Skirt and Man on the Moon, among others.
Guests can also expect short films, videos, paintings, digital art and performance art during the event.
“Joey Samson X” will culminate on August 31 with an interactive fashion show featuring models wearing pieces from Samson’s Capsule Collection.
Samson, who once aspired to become a doctor, is now considered by many as the Philippines’ fashion master of androgyny because of his one-of-a-kind creations.
