How Billy Crawford lost 50 pounds

MANILA, Philippines – Singer and dancer Billy Crawford proudly said he has lost more than 50 pounds but the "It's Showtime" host said it was a long hard road of serious workouts and physical training.

His weight-loss was stunning and many people immediately noticed his slimmer figure when he returned to the country after staying in France for a couple of months.

Before he left for Europe, Crawford weighed 210 pounds; he now weighs 158 pounds.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Wednesday, Crawford said he started working out again five months ago.

“It’s not really madalian; it’s been almost five months. I’ve been working out in the gym. I’ve been biking, swimming, dieting. I wake up in the morning at 5 a.m. to bike. It started in France when I was training with a triathlete and he joined the full Ironman in France,” he said.

Crawford said he took the opportunity to train hard in France where people don’t normally eat rice in meals.

“It’s a wake-up call. It’s great to train away from the Philippines, 'yung opportunity na 'yung diet nila walang kanin. Basta 'yung discipline is important,” he said.

Crawford said his friend inspired him that’s why he decided to continue working out even when he returned to the Philippines.

He also denied that he took any pills to shed the pounds.

“Nothing artificial, no pills. Everything is natural, fresh fruits. We live in the Philippines, a tropical country. Napakasarap ng mga prutas natin, there’s so much vegetables talaga. Sacrifice talaga,” he said.

According to Crawford, it hurt him when his colleagues would joke about his chubby figure in the past.

“It was a joke but it hurt. Kahit anong mangyari, sabihin mo ba naman sa kapwa mo na chubby ka, nakakatawa, pero at the end of the day, you go back home and say totoo nga at hindi na maganda tignan,” he said. – from a report by Mario Dumaual, ABS-CBN News
