MANILA, Philippines – Fresh from her win at this year’s Binibining Pilipinas pageant last Sunday, Laguna beauty Ariella Arida said everything still feels like a dream.
Speaking to "[email protected]" two days after the competition, Ariella said her victory still hasn’t sunk in.
“I can’t imagine that this is really happening. I feel like it’s just a dream that turned into a reality. I’m still in the process of absorbing everything,” she said.
Arida, a BS Chemistry graduate from the University of the Philippines, said her Bininibining Pilipinas journey wasn’t easy.
The 24-year-old beauty queen said she had to make sacrifices, including eating her favorite foods.
“I really prepared myself physically. I started going to the gym last November. I gave up all the sodium so I’m into a no-salt diet. I also gave up carbs. I’m just eating steamed food. That’s the time when I also learned how to cook my own food, all steamed,” she said.
And now that all eyes are on her, Arida vowed that she will do her best to represent the country at this year’s Miss Universe competition.
While past winners Shamcey Supsup and Janine Tugonon are known for their tsunami and cobra walks, respectively, Arida said she is ready to show the world her own “ariba walk.”
Arida said her signature walk is all about projection and the glide of her hips.
