MANILA - This Southeast Asian country has 50 public holidays in 2019, the most number of holidays in the region.

An article published by Mashable Southeast Asia ranked Southeast Asian countries based on the number of public holidays each has for 2019.

Malaysia topped the list with 50 public holidays, the most in the region. Some of these holidays, however, are celebrated only in some states.

Among the most celebrated festivals in the country are Hari Raya (Eid'l Fitr, the end of Ramadan), Chinese New Year and Deepavali (Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights).

Cambodia came in second with 31 days. Among its public holidays are Children's Day, Human Rights Day and the Cambodian new year from April 14 to 17.

Thailand has 26 public holidays. Of this number, 6 days are celebrated only in selected provinces.

Myanmar has 25 public holidays, which include days celebrating the full moon.

The Philippines came in fifth on the list with 21 days. Included in these public holidays are those related to Christianity, such as the Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.

Indonesia has 20 public holidays, which include a five-day holiday for Lebaran, the Indonesian celebration of Eid'l Fitr.

Brunei has 19 public holidays, which include the Hari Raya celebrations in June.

Singapore only has 14 public holidays, the longest of which is the Chinese New Year celebration in February.

Laos, just like its neighbors Thailand, Cambodia and Myanmar, celebrates its new year in April. It is the longest public holiday in the country, which only has 13 public holidays in 2019.

Vietnam has the least number of public holidays at 11 days. Of this number, the longest is the five-day celebration of the Vietnamese New Year, also celebrated in February.
