MANILA - A total of 24 Philippine languages and dialects are now part of the Jehovah's Witnesses official website, considered to be the world's most translated site.

Jehovah's Witnesses official website, jw.org, is available in 1,004 languages, surpassing Google Translate, Facebook ang Wikipedia.

They believe that all people should be given a chance to learn God’s Word in their native language.

"It took us a little over a hundred years to reach 508 languages in January 2013. But it's remarkable that in just under seven years we have nearly doubled our translation production — from 508 languages to 1,000," said Geoffrey Jackson, a member of the Witnesses’ Governing Body.

The website contains downloadable Bible-based articles, videos, and audio materials. Its home page and other pages can now also be navigated in 821 languages.

The local and indigenous Philippine languages represented in the jw.org website are Abaknon, Bicol, Blaan, Cebuano, Chavacano, Filipino Sign Language, Hiligaynon, Ibaloi, Ibanag, Ifugao, Iloko, Inakeanon, Itawit, Ivatan, Kamayo, Kankanaey, Kinaray-a, Maguindanao, Maranaw, Pangasinan, Surigaonon, Tagalog, Tausug, and Waray-Waray.

Volunteers in about 350 remote translation offices (RTOs) work on the translation of print video and audi materials.

These RTOs are located in areas where there is high concentration of native speakers to allow translators to immerse in the language, terms and expressions of a specific group of speakers.

In the Philippines, there are five established RTOs and these are located in Tuguegarao (for Ibanag), San Carlos City (for Pangasinan), Bacolod (for Hiligaynon), Naga City (for Bicol), and Tacloban (for Waray-waray).

Meanwhile, Jehovah's Witnesses national office in Quezon City houses translation for languages namely Tagalog, Cebuano, Iloko and the Filipino Sign Language. Another RTO is being constructed in Zamboanga City for the Chavacano language.
