Thousands gathered along Session Road, Baguio City on Friday on the 9th year of Saint Louis University’s (SLU) lantern parade.

The colorful lanterns left the crowd in awe during the opening of the city’s monthlong Christmas celebration.

Andrew Macalma, SLU dean of student affairs, said majority of the lanterns was designed and hand-crafted by the students in accordance to this year’s theme, "One Heart, One Mission: The CICM Journey."

In celebration of SLU’s 106th foundation anniversary and in commemoration of the 110th year of CICM Philippines, various contingents featured different places that could be linked to the advent of CICM missionaries in the country since 1907.

Manila, Tagudin, Bontoc, Kiangan, Baguio, Nueva Vizcaya, Cebu, Bacolod, and some areas in Mindanao such as Bukidnon, Cotabato, Marawi, Agusan and Butuan were among those places featured.
Besides the renowned Panagbenga Festival in February, SLU’s lantern parade has been a crowd favorite in the City of Pines.
