MANILA - Beauty queen Mariel de Leon gave her two cents about sexual harassment in pageants.

This, after some Miss Earth 208 candidates have come forward with allegations of sexual harassment against a sponsor of the Manila-based pageant.

In a Twitter post, De Leon confirmed the existence of sexual harassment in beauty pageants.

"Sexual harassment in pageantry is real. Just like how it is in any field of work," she said.

She also warned against victim-blaming, saying it happens not because of what someone is wearing.

"It is never okay to blame the victim," De Leon said.

"It doesn’t matter what she is doing, where she is, what state she is in, and it especially doesn’t matter what she is wearing. No is no," she added.

Earlier this week, Canadian beauty queen Jaime VandenBerg, Emma Mae Sheedy of Guam and Abbey-Anne Gyles-Brown of England spoke out against a sponsor who allegedly behaved inappropriately during Miss Earth pre-pageant activities.

Amado Cruz, the Miss Earth sponsor accused of sexual harrassment by three candidates, denied the accusations.
