MANILA -- Here are some of the events and shows you may want to check out this weekend.

1. 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang'

Where : Newport Performing Arts Theater, Resorts World Manila

Resorts World Manila's latest family musical, "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang," is based on the book by James Bond creator Ian Fleming.

"Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" was first made into a film in 1968, while the first stage production debuted in 2002. Resorts World will present its take on this well-loved British classic that has made waves in the UK, Australia, Germany, and Singapore, and let Philippine audiences enjoy it for the first time.

The cast includes Gian Magdangal, Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo, Michael Williams, Yana Laurel, and up and coming young stars Isabeli Araneta Elizalde, Zoey Alvarade, Noel Comia Jr., Albert Silos, and more.

Tickets are available at the RWM Box Office and all TicketWorld outlets.

2. The Exemplars: Amada and Other Dances

When: October 20 to 22
Where: Main Theater, Cultural Center of the Philippines

Ballet Philippines brings back long-unseen works that established the company's signature style and identity in "The Exemplars."

It will showcase classic works such as Alice Reyes' "Amada," one of the first pieces ever performed by the company and based on "Summer Solstice" by National Artist for Literature Nick Joaquin.

Another featured work is "Valse Fantasy," a neo-classical piece inspired by George Balanchine and especially staged for Ballet Philippines by Muñeca Aponte in 1974.

Gener Caringal's "Ang Sultan" is a story about star-crossed lovers, separated by the eternal clash between classes. Since its premiere in 1973, it has become one of the most performed pieces in the company's repertoire.

Other pieces to be performed are Norman Walker's "Songs of a Wayfarer" and Pauline Koner's "Concertino."

"The Exemplars: Amada and Other Dances" will also have a performance on October 25 at the Globe Auditorium of Maybank Theater at the BGC Arts Center.

3. Canon PhotoMarathon 2017

Where: SMX Convention Center, MOA Grounds, Pasay

The largest on-the-spot photography contest opens its doors to Filipinos once again.

Anybody who owns a Canon camera, whether a DSLR, mirrorless, or compact camera, are welcome to participate. The entries will be judged according to the relevance to the theme of the entries (50%), creativity in theme interpretation (30%), and the composition of photography with the use of lighting, exposure, and focus (20%).

The photographer of the winning photo will enjoy an all-expense paid trip and will represent the Philippines at the Canon PhotoMarathon grand finals in Japan in 2018.

Aside from the main photography contest, the participants will also get access to photography workshops and get their hands on the latest line-up of Canon’s imaging and printing devices.

4. Whisky Live Manila

Where: Shangri-La at the Fort, Taguig

Whether you’re a connoisseur or a novice, you’ll find something in Whisky Live Manila which is happening again this year.

Ticket holders get to sample whiskeys from around the world such as Dalmore, Kavalan, and Macallan. They can also watch a live cocktail-making competition.

Pocket sessions and various activities have also been prepared by exhibitors, including much anticipated masterclass sessions by international whisky experts.

5. Eastwood City Neon Beer Fest

Where: Fuente Circle, Eastwood City

It’s DJ’s night on October 20 with the hottest disc jockeys in the metro. Catch DJ Renz Elma, DJ Marlo Naval, DJ Marc Naval, DJ Mark Sianghio, DJ Janus Naval, and DJ Jon Naval at this year's beer festivities in Eastwood City.

6. Pink October

Festival Mall’s Pink October is back for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Among the events are The Pink Exhibit, which is ongoing until October 30; Pinkalligraphy and Pinkaricature on all Saturdays and Sundays of October at the mall’s New Wing; Pink Moves Zumba sessions every Monday, Wednesday and Friday this October at the 4th Level Expo; and the poster-making contest, following the theme Stronger in Pink and depicting the artist’s own interpretation of “Strength in Adversity.”

7. Sync Sessions 2017

When: October 21
Where: Power Mac Center, SM Mall of Asia

Power Mac Center is bringing back Sync Sessions, which provides Filipino musicians a platform to showcase their music style. Power Mac Center stores are turned into an intimate stage for a laid-back performance of their songs.

The artists will be using iOS apps like GarageBand for iPad, which allows musicians to create and record music through a variety of effects and virtual instruments.

Kicking off the concert series this Saturday are Rusty Machines (in photo), December Avenue, and Ang Bandang Shirley.

8. David Archuleta Live!

Where: KIA Theatre, Cubao

David Archuleta is back in Manila to perform for his Filipino fans. The American singer became famous after finishing as the runner-up in the 7th season of “American Idol.”

Archuleta will also release his new album, "Postcards in the Sky," on the same day.

Some of his hit songs are "Crush" and "A Little Too Not Over You."

9. One Fun Day: A Family Day of Festivities for All Abilities

When: October 21, 8 a.m. to 12 noon
Where: Cuenca Covered Court, Ayala Alabang

Alabang-based learning center Kid’s First Discovery Space is set to hold a day of exciting activities to celebrate the 10th year of its program that provides early childhood intervention for children with special needs.

It will feature special lessons on hip hop dancing, taekwondo, futsal, yoga, and circuit training. An area will also be dedicated for sand play, giant board games, kite flying, and many more.

Kid’s First hopes to send a message that all kids with various talents and capabilities can develop positively and interact harmoniously with one another.

Ticket price is at P500 for a single entry inclusive of entrance fee, snacks, and a loot bag. Those interested can also avail of a discounted price of P1,000 for a family of three.

10. Printmaking talk and demo

Where: Museo ng Kalinangang Pilipino Hall, Cultural Center of the Philippines

The Association of Pinoyprintmakers (A/P) will hold an artist talk and demonstration which will be facilitated by its president, Benjie Torrado Cabrera.

A/P's current exhibition in the CCP, titled "Nature-Nurture," is open for viewing until October 29 at the Pasilyo Vicente Manansala and Pasilyo Guillermo Tolentino.

11. Full Blast Pinoy Super Bands

When: October 20, 6 p.m.
Where: Cuneta Astrodome

The biggest and most iconic names in Pinoy rock music are set to come together for the first time.

Full Blast Pinoy Super Bands feature acts like Lolita Carbon, Maria Cafra, The Youth, Razorback, Queso, Dong Abay, Basti Artadi, and Juan de la Cruz Band with its original members Mike Hanopol, Wally Gonzales, and Pepe Smith.
