MANILA - Celebrity doctor Victoria "Vicki" Belo has been looking beyond her beauty empire and into the public sector to fulfill one of her goals.

Belo, the founder and CEO of the country's largest cosmetic clinic that also boasts of a wide range of skin essentials, said one of her "craziest dreams" is to become the Philippines' Tourism Secretary.

"My dream -- this is the craziest dream but I know it will happen one day -- I want to be the tourism secretary of the Philippines," she told ABS-CBN News.

"It just drives me nuts that Thailand and other countries are so ahead of us in tourism, like why?" she continued. "For me, we're so much better and I just don't feel that we're tapping all our resources."

Should she be tapped to spearhead the Tourism Department in the future, Belo said she would bank on the Philippines' unique culture and activities endemic to the country.

"I've traveled so much and because I have so many foreign friends, I see what they enjoy," said the doctor who is also known for her jet-setting lifestyle.

"Our jeepneys have disappeared. They used to love those jeepneys with the horses in front," she said, referring to the colorful Sarao jeeps.

"Karitela, a carabao? Enjoy na enjoy na sila doon, [but] all these disappeared [because] we are trying to be so American," she added.

While her goal of being the Secretary of Tourism still remains a dream, Belo said she intends to focus on her craft as a cosmetic surgeon to make the Philippines a more attractive destination.

"I am very, very nationalistic," she said. "I want to make the Philippines the most beautiful country one person at a time because that's all I can do."

"I cannot plant trees, I cannot make beautiful roads, but I can make people beautiful," she ended.
