Catriona Gray considers herself “99% prepared” for the highly anticipated Miss Universe pageant, even teasing that Filipino fans can look forward to a “pasabog,” or a surprise come crowning night.

The remaining 1%, Gray explained, is just pulling together and ironing out her wardrobe and looks for the competition to be held in Bangkok, Thailand in December.

Gray was interviewed on the topic Wednesday on the sidelines of a send-off party for her fellow Binibining Pilipinas queens Michele Gumabao and Eva Patalinjug, who are set to compete in Miss Globe and Miss Grand International, respectively.

Asked for her reaction to being an apparent “early favorite” among Miss Universe candidates, Gray said that while she feels “very fortunate,” the actual competition and the determining factors for a winning performance have yet to take place.

Nonetheless, Gray expressed confidence about her training leading up to the pageant, adding she is grateful for the “amazing energy” that supporters have been giving her.
