MANILA – Michelle Dee is full of gratitude as she promised all her supporters that she will make the most out of her reign as Miss World Philippines 2019.

The daughter of Miss International 1979 Melanie Marquez bested 39 other candidates for the title, allowing her to represent the country in the Miss World pageant in London this December.

“I’ve just reached a major milestone in my life, and all I can really say is thank you. Thank you to everyone who’s believed in me since the beginning,” Dee said in an Instagram post on Monday night, specifically mentioning her family, friends, and mentors.

“I don’t think I’ll ever be the perfect queen, but I promise to try my best and to continue to do so every day throughout my reign,” she added. “I hope I make you all proud and I hope you all enjoyed the show last night, too. Here we go!”

Dee went on to thank her fellow candidates in Miss World Philippines, saying they have “taught me so much throughout my journey.”

“Getting to know a lot of you on a deeper level means so much to me,” she said.

Dee will aim for the Philippines’ second Miss World crown, after Megan Young in 2013.
