MANILA -- Theater star Joanna Ampil took to social media to express her happiness as she appears in her first "Maalaala Mo Kaya" episode.
On Instagram, Ampil posted a teaser for the August 24 episode of "MMK," the country's longest drama anthology.
"I remember being asked about wanting to be on Philippine television once. My reply was, 'I want to experience all the sigawan, sampalan, putikan, iyakan, absolutely bare-faced.' As they all say, be careful what you wish for. My first ever episode of 'MMK' has it all and more!" she said.
She went on to talk about her character in the "MMK" episode: "I play a character called Corazon from her 30s to 60s who is mentally challenged, a battered wife, and mother to Abby and Kirby."
Ampil is joined by actors Raymond Bagatsing, Alyana Asistio, and Kiko Estrada in the episode directed by Will Fredo and written by Chie Floresca.
"MMK" airs at 8:30 p.m. every Saturday on ABS-CBN.
Ampil has appeared in West End productions such as "Miss Saigon," "Les Miserables," and "Cats."
She is also part of the iWant series "Don't Call Me Tita" along with Angelica Panganiban, Cherry Pie Picache, Agot Isidro, Mylene Dizon, Cherie Gil, and Ice Seguerra.
