MANILA -- It was supposedly a usual flight for the 165 passengers aboard AirAsia flight Z2-943 bound for Manila from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, when a group of kids stood up and gathered in the aisle.

Despite some turbulence, the duo of 8-year-old JJ Regino and 9-year-old Symone Drapere performed their hiphop routine, shrugging off sound failure and continued dancers.

Regino and Drapete, both students of the Halili-Cruz School of Dance, flew to Malaysia to represent the Philippines and compete in the 19th Asia Pacific Dancing Competition held in Kuala Lumpur. The Philippine team were returning home with three gold, five silver and several bronze medals and honorable mentions.

Ula and Alie Sadie and Lianne Amurao also took to the floor as they danced the "tootsie roll."

Some of the flight crew even danced with the kids, much to the delight of the passengers.

The impromptu program started when a flight attendant noticed a child wearing a black shirt printed with the name of the contest they joined in Kuala Lumpur.

The crew then asked the kids if they would like to perform for the passengers. The students and their parents agreed.

The Halili-Cruz School of Dance entered 70 students in the annual competition, which was held from August 17-21.

Representatives from the Philippines participated in various events including ballet, jazz, contemporary, hiphop, lyrical, and song and dance.
