WATCH: Dengue detection made simpler with home-testing kit

MANILA - Testing for dengue infection has become much simpler, the developers of a self-diagnostic kit told ANC's Future Perfect on Wednesday.

Philab, a Philippine company that designs and builds scientific laboratories, started offering "LABit DX" or Laboratory Instant
Testing for Dengue this year to the public via an e-commerce site.

Resembling a home pregnancy test, the P499 kit allows the early detection of dengue, while similar test in a hospital would cost at
least P2,000 or higher.

"When you detect dengue early, you actually decrease the rate of mortality to 1 percent," said Therese Perez, Philab Holdings Vice President.

Aside from the dengue detection kit, Philab is also working to develop similar testing kits to detect high cholesterol, anemia, and even prostate cancer.
