MANILA - Bellatrix Tan, the beauty queen who went viral online after fluffing her answer to a question about El Niño and La Niña during the recent Miss Philippines Earth pageant, tried to redeem herself in an episode of the newest season of "Minute to Win It" on Wednesday.

Given another chance to explain the weather phenomenons, Tan said: "El Niño and La Niña are both effects of climate change. If we do our part like planting trees, then we can expect in the near future a better Earth."

It was an improvement from her first answer during the beauty pageant, wherein she said planting trees can end drought and "achieve La Niña."

Tan said she received a fair amount of criticism because of her answer. However, the experience also made her realize how much she is loved by her family and friends.

She also denied not knowing the meaning of El Niño and La Niña when she joined the environmental-themed pageant. "Ina-assume ng mga bashers ko na hindi ko alam iyong ibig sabihin," she said.
