MANILA -- The search is on for the next batch of Filipina beauty queens.

Following the coronation of new Binibining Pilipinas titleholders last month and the forthcoming finals for Miss Philippines Earth on July 10, two more of the so-called "big four" national pageants are gearing up to stage their 2019 edition.

MUTYA PILIPINAS 2019

Formerly known as Mutya ng Pilipinas, Mutya Pilipinas is set to kick off a bigger and grander edition this year. The 51-year-old pageant, under its new president (and former Miss World Philippines national director) Cory Quirino, announced its rebranding in May. It has noticeably dropped the ‘ng’ from its name as it hopes to launch new partnerships and expand its reach.

According to its official website, Mutya Pilipinas is not just staging screenings across the Philippines, with road auditions scheduled for Cebu, Clark, Iloilo and Manila. The pageant throughout July will also be scouting for new faces across overseas Filipino communities, specifically in Canada, United States, United Kingdom, the Middle East and Spain.

Up for grabs are four pageant titles: Miss Asia Pacific International, Miss Tourism International, Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International and the newly secured franchise for World Top Model Philippines.

MISS WORLD PHILIPPINES 2019

A shake up as well for Miss World Philippines as pageant veteran Arnold ‘Mama Ruffa’ Mercado leads this year’s competition as its general manager. Best known as one of the co-founders of beauty camp Aces & Queens, Mercado is stepping up to the role left by his colleague, fashion designer Bessie Besana last April.

The national pageant is inviting all eligible young women to send their application forms on or before July 26, 2019. Final screening is set for August 3, and coronation night is scheduled on September 8.

Official candidates will be vying for a total of five crowns: Miss World Philippines, Miss Eco Philippines, Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas, Miss Multinational Philippines and Miss Eco Teen Philippines.
