SIARGAO -- Siargao is best known as a surfing destination. And the easiest way for surfers to get around to the various spots on the island is by motorbike. Bikes outfitted with surf racks have become an icon of the province.

With the influx of free spirited travelers, beach bums, surfers and international backpackers to the island, motorbike rentals have become widely available. You can easily rent scooters and underbones as soon as you arrive from the airport.

Just walk around Tourism Road in General Luna and you’re sure to find a shop renting out motorbikes in between all the beach bars and cafes. Rentals are usually offered from P350 to P500 a day, offering an easy way for tourists to get around and go on road trips.

For those looking for a different kind of ride, Loose Keys Moto Culture offers some of the best looking and unique custom-built bikes for rent on the island. Combining the surf and moto lifestyle, the motorcycle rental shop, which opened earlier this year, doubles as a bar, hangout and boutique run by proprietor fashion designer Mia del Mundo partner Daniel Fitzpatrick.

Visitors can rent eye-catching and sleek surf-scramblers or brat versions of common bikes you can find on the island like the Honda XR150, TMX 125 and even a Honda Cub. You can even ride the bad-ass XR150 used by actor Jericho Rosales in the 2017 surf romance film "Siargao."

All the bikes for rent at Loose Keys Moto Culture were conceptualized and handcrafted by Benjo Sun of 3B Customs Moto Garage based in Surigao City. 3B Customs is the same garage behind the hubless chopper built from a Yamaha SZR that made waves in the Moto Builds Pilipinas 2017 competition in Manila. 3B Customs also provides routine maintanance and servicing for the bikes on the island to ensure they remain in tip-top shape.

Many of the modified bikes have hooks for mounting and transporting surfboards if needed, though unlike the typical models you may find, these are completely detachable so the bikes remain aesthetically pleasing to use even for non-surfers.

There are currently six custom bikes that embody the island vibe of Siargao for rent at Loose Keys Moto Culture which cost P800 a day to rent. 3B Customs Moto Garage is currently working on several more modified bike orders for the island.
