MANILA — Darna, Captain Barbell, and Lastikman are poised to showcase their superpowers to a new generation of pop culture fans with the introduction of the Ravelo Komiks Universe.

The ABS-CBN title is the first Filipino comics superheroes brand based on the creations of comics legend Mars Ravelo.

Ravelo Komiks Universe released on Wednesday gives a closer look at the latest animated iterations of Darna, Captain Barbell, and Lastikman — arguably the most popular of Ravelo’s characters, alongside the mermaid Dyesebel.

The triumvirate, clad in their iconic costumes, are each introduced with details of the alter ego, source of power, and abilities.

Ravelo Komiks Universe recently made a splash at ToyCon 2019, where new statuettes, collectible figures, card games, and other merchandise based on the characters were put on display. A Funko Pop variant inspired by Darna was also announced during the event.

Aside from a wide range of merchandise, Ravelo Komiks Universe is also available as a puzzle game app where the superheroes face off against the villain Valentina and her forces.

Darna, meanwhile, is set to fly on the big screen with the upcoming Star Cinema movie under the direction of Jerrold Tarog.
