MANILA – Will Ritz Azul be the next Miss Universe winner from the Philippines?

The actress was recently asked by the entertainment website Push if she is setting her sights on Binibining Pilipinas after she revealed that she has been joining beauty pageants since she was 13 years old.

“Kapag nakakanood ako ng Bb. Pilipinas o beauty pageants, nai-imagine ko. Siyempre may kirot pa rin sa puso ko na sana tinuloy ko,” she said.

“Sana noong mas bata ako at mas malakas ‘yung loob ko, sumali ako.”

Now 25 years old, Azul thinks she is too old for Bb. Pilipinas, saying she will need at least one year of training before joining the national pageant.

That, and the fact that she has to win a crown on her first try, given the Bb. Pilipinas age limit of 26. “Kung hindi ko makuha ng unang try… Gusto ko sanang makuha talaga. So medyo bitin na ako sa oras,” she explained.

Azul went on to stress that she is happy where she is now. “Masaya na ako sa acting,” she said.

Aside from the ABS-CBN series “Los Bastardos,” Azul is also busy promoting the movie “Kontradiksyon,” which will be released on June 26.

Should she decide to compete in Bb. Pilipinas, Azul will join the likes of Pia Wurtzbach, Megan Young, Wyn Marquez, and Vickie Rushton as celebrities who have crossed over into the pageant world.
