Amorsolo painting sells for P46.7 million at auction

MANILA – "Under the Mango Tree" by National Artist Fernando Amorsolo was sold for a whopping P46.7 million at Leon Gallery's Spectacular Mid-Year Auction 2018.

The 1931 oil-on-panel artwork which once belonged to the Conde de Peracramps fetched P46,720,000, besting a previous international record by several millions.

Other remarkable pieces sold during the auction include Lorenzo Guerrero's "At River's Bend" at P17,520,000, Jose Rizal's "The Filipino" (P17,500,000), and Roberto Chabet's "Blind Window"
(P9,344,000).

Also sold during the auction were the legendary Arnendo Table at P7,600,000, Mark Justiniani’s "Ang Hari (The King)" (P6,424,000), Florencio Concepcion's "Abstract" (P2,336,000), and Marciano Galang's "Morning Calm" (P2,102,400).
